Rated 3 out of 5 by from Incredible trail shoe but has two fatal flaws Hands-down the most comfortable trail shoe I've worn. However it suffers from two very disappointing flaws: 1) Padding behind the achilles is too stiff, high and inflexible. My achilles hurt everytime I wear them, especially after going downhill as the back of the shoe digs in even more. 2) Terrible traction. If you're running flat, non-technical trails or roads you'll be fine. Anything at all technical or with climbing/descending you'll wonder what Nike was thinking with the gutless tread design. What tread there wears VERY quickly, too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable and stylish I have been running in the new Terra Kiger 5s which I absolutely love. However, I wanted something a bit beefier for some longer, rougher runs. I thought I’d give the Wildhorse a try seeing that they are priced pretty reasonably. Well, I absolutely love these shoes. They are comfortable, stylish, and aren’t too heavy. Even though the Wildhorse has an 8mm drop, the shoe feels very low and connected to the ground, even more so than the Kiger. The shoe’s surface to ground area is very large giving you great traction on pretty much everything. Did I mention they are comfortable? They really are. I have ran on technical terrain with them (Austin trails) and even put down an 8 mile road run with them. The shoe is just solid no matter what you throw at it. I still love my Terra Kiger 5s but the Wildhorse is seeing more and more time in the rotation. Definitely worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ultra Comfy and Super Solid trail shoe I was so pleased with the Wildhorse 4 that I was a bit nervous about whether I would like the changes to the 5. I'm happy to report the 5 is every bit as comfortable with even less weight. I bought two pairs to use in a 50 mile trail race recently. I stuck the second pair in my drop bag at the 20/40 mile mark. The first pair we're still feeling great at both 20 and 40 miles that I didn't even need to swap shoes. The toe box is still very roomy, and the fit around the ankle is still very good. There are no top of foot pain issues with the tongue or lacing system. The rock plate is very good and I haven't felt any issues with varied terrain. Traction is suburb both wet and dry, even on fast and loose downhill sections. The wildhorse series is by far the best trail shoe I have used. I have been running around 40-60 miles a week in these shoes and they have been holding up for 400-600 miles very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wildhorse 5 a real value I took my Wildhorse 5s out on a mixed trail in the Sierra outside Reno, NV today. I was in a mix of granite sand, scree and rocks. The shoes offered a nice blend of cusion and ground feel. No rock bruising and very good grip. The shoe fits true to size and has lots of toe room for splay. No problem with the lacing, it stayed tight with no heel slip. Great shoe and a real value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best trail shoes ever! Superior in every way compared to Salamon. Purchased about a month ago. Super comfortable. I purchased them for softball and for the sole and toe box. Excellent traction and grip. Nike has hit a homerun with this shoe and the color combinations are great!
