Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Long Distance Trail Shoe! I love these shoes! The stacked mid-sole and low drop has kept my feet healthy. I've struggled with plantar, swelling in the ball of my foot, etc. but haven't had a problem in these shoes running marathons, ultras and relays. These shoes never let me down. I'd love if Brooks would create a road shoe with a more stacked mid-sole as well, however, these shoes transition to pavement relatively well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love This Shoe I love everything about this shoe. The width, cushion, support, the tread and the upper. I was a huge fan when Brooks started with this shoe, though I was let down with the "2" version. The "3" is great and have purchased a 2nd pair to have a variety of colors to choose from.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too narrow Sorry, but in my opinion this version of the Caldera is too narrow in the toe box compared to the previous ones. I personally prefer the Caldera 1 and 2. Will skip the 3.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favorite Lightweight Trail Shoe! I've tried several trail shoes, looking for the Goldilock shoe, and Caldera 3 is pretty close. (For reference, I've tried Brooks Pure Grit and Saucony Peregrine before stumbling across Caldera 3). I've used this shoe for everything from technical hikes in the Rocky Mountains to half marathon trail runs on our local single track dirt trails. No matter the surface, my feet stay comfortable. They're cushioned but yet responsive. The shoe is very light weight and the tread is sticky enough to help traverse technical trails, but not too aggressive to hit the pavement in between trails. I call it my hybrid trail shoe - it really works for everything. I've ran in the rain and my feet stay relatively dry (wool socks for the win!). I've covered these in mud and they cleaned up nicely. My only complaint is my foot is rather narrow and I feel like it's hard to get a tighter fit on my midfoot. If I don't get them laced just right, they slip around a bit and I start to have rubbing on my midfoot/arch by about mile 12. There's just a little more upper on the midfoot than I prefer. I'm also not a big fan of the laces because they're slippery and come untied, but switching them out for speed laces solved that problem (I just did this - love the results!). Those are two minor issues, and the comfort of this shoe cancels them out.
